Situated in the east southcentral region of the nation as the 37th most extensive and 26th most populous state, Kentucky is one of four states constituted as a commonwealth. Nicknamed as the “Bluegrass State” for its pastures of bluegrass and bluegrass music roots, Kentucky is a land with diverse environments, including Mammoth Cave National Park that remains the longest cave system in the world. In addition, Kentucky serves as the location for the greatest length of navigable waterways in the United States and the two largest manmade lakes eastward of the Mississippi River. Home to the highest per capita number of deer, turkey, and free-ranging elk in the United States, Kentucky is famous for its horse racing, coalfields, bourbon distilleries, tobacco, and college basketball.

Although Kentucky maintains four public four-year universities and several private institutions, there are just two in the state that offer a Master’s in Human Resources program aligned with the standards by the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM). As the largest association on the globe devoted solely to serving the needs of human resource professionals and advancing the interests of the field, the SHRM represents more than 250,000 members in over 140 international countries. For those who are interested in assuming leadership roles in human resources management, it is recommended that students choose a program that is aligned with the guidelines to ensure the highest quality of training and unparalleled access to networking opportunities that will lead to a number of careers for human resources professionals.
