Since Fall 2010, the Ketner School of Business has offered a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) with a Human Resource Management concentration for Trine University Thunder to develop executive skills for directing an enterprise’s people. Chaired by Dr. Catherine Benson, a McKetta Excellence in Teaching Award recipient, the 120-credit, ACBSP-accredited path is available fully online on Moodle or at Ford Hall in Angola. Undergrads choose from accelerated eight- or traditional 16-week courses like Employment Law and Design Operations with a 15:1 student-faculty ratio. Majors with minimum 2.5 GPAs qualify for internships at DuPont, Honda, Steel Dynamics, Parkview Health, Rolls Royce, and more. Learners could also join Women in Business, pledge Delta Mu Delta, study abroad from Cha-Am to Cardiff, pursue the Lou Holtz M.S. in Organizational Leadership, and finish the Dual MBA.
About Trine University
Trine University originated in 1884 when the Tri-State Normal College opened in Taylor Hall to serve Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio with high-quality teacher training. In 1887, President Littleton M. Sniff raised $15,000 to erect the Administration Building. In 1906, it became Tri-State College as the curriculum broadened beyond education. In 1937, Tri-State College enrolled the future Food Lion founder Ralph Wright Ketner. On June 1, 1963, Tri-State succeeded in achieving initial regional accreditation. In 1971, Tri-State notably created Zollner Golf Course, which hosts NAIA Golf Championship tournaments. Four years later, it was renamed Tri-State University to signify its growing master’s education. In 1994, Tri-State started adult evening and weekend programs. On September 24, 2007, the Board of Trustees voted to adopt the Trine University name. In 2013, Trine built the Jim & Joan Bock Center for Innovation.
Endowed for $35.2 million, Trine University now employs 345 faculty teaching 5,184 Thunder from 21 countries online, on its 450-acre Pleasant Township campus, or at the Fort Wayne Education Center with 60+ clubs like the Multicultural Student Organization for 99.7 percent job placement. In 2019, Trine had an ASCE Student Leadership Award recipient. In 2018, Trine University won a CASE Pride of District V Educational Fundraising Excellence Award. Trine University Accreditation Details
On December 17, 2015, the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association (HLC-NCA) issued a new Institutional Status Report for Trine University that satisfactorily extended the Level V accreditation through the next 2026-26 evaluation visit under President Earl D. Brooks, Ph.D., who earned Indiana’s Sagamore of the Wabash Honorary Award. Located 157 miles west via Highway 20 in Chicago, this huge 19-state Heartland Region accreditor is authorized by the U.S. Department of Education to review Trine’s eight associate, 48 bachelor’s, and seven graduate degrees. Further, the Ketner School of Business was reaffirmed by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) on February 26, 2019.
Trine University Application Requirements
Enrollment at Trine University is classified as “moderately difficult” by Peterson’s because only 2,929 of the 3,993 Fall 2018 applicants were victorious for 73 percent acceptance. First-year Thunder striking the BSBA in Human Resource Management opportunity must graduate from accredited high schools or achieve at least 410 GED scores. The Class of 2022 presented a median secondary GPA of 3.53. The middle 50th percentile had SAT scores of 970-1160. Mid-range admitted ACT scores were 20-27. The Honors Program mandates a minimum 3.75 GPA, 27 ACT, and 1290 SAT mark. Ketner School of Business transfers must hold cumulative GPAs above 2.25. Lower-level prerequisite courses, such as Calculus I and English Composition I, must be graded C or better. Foreign students often must provide at least 6.5 IELTS, 58 PTE, or 79 TOEFL iBT scores. Lou Holtz M.S. in Organizational Leadership cohorts need four-year bachelor’s GPAs of 3.0 and 570 GMAT scores or higher. GRE composite scores over 300 after August 2011 would also qualify.
Trine University conducts admissions on a rolling basis year-round. It’s suggested freshman apply before the March 1st priority deadline. Traditional international students should file before June 1st for Fall or November 1st for Spring starts. The College of Graduate & Professional Studies has two program start dates each term. Tuition and Financial Aid
For 2019-20, Trine University is billing traditional full-time BSBA in Human Resource Management majors $32,330 annually. Part-time campus tuition costs $1,060 per credit. Bachelor’s students cover the $320 service fee, $120 wellness fee, and $120 parking fee. Residing at the Angola housing like Widmann Hall adds $5,170 to $7,300 for yearly rent. Standard 19-meal weekly plans for Centennial Station are 4,560 extra. Trine budgets $1,200 for books and $3,400 for miscellaneous. Annual undergrad attendance traditionally equals $47,586 on-site or $36,376 if commuting. TrineOnline charges $399 per baccalaureate credit. Active-duty military pay a discounted $250 per credit rate. The Lou Holtz M.S. in Organizational Leadership and Master of Business Administration both cost $565 per credit.
According to the NCES College Navigator, the Office of Financial Aid on Forman Hall’s Lower Level links 100 percent of new full-time Trine Thunder to tuition assistance averaging $22,854 apiece for $13.46 million combined. University funds include the Discovery Award, Dean’s Scholarship, Governor’s Work Ethic Award, Project Lead the Way Award, Valedictorian Award, Gruenberg Scholarship, Tochigi Scholarship, Air Force ROTC Scholarship, Boys and Girls Club of America Scholarship, Bateman Kolb Scholarship, Ketner Business Scholarship, Diversity Scholarship, and Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce Scholarship. The President’s Scholarship gifts $16,000 annually to outstanding freshmen who exceed the 27 ACT or 1320 SAT minimum. The $18,000 Transfer Scholarship goes to incoming undergrads with 30+ previous credits and cumulative GPAs above 3.75. Federal programs, such as the Pell Grant or Direct Subsidized Loan, require FAFSA applications coded 001839 by March 1st.
