Students attending the University of Nevada, Las Vegas who want to study human resources management will enroll in the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration; Management with Human Resource Management Concentration or the MBA program with an emphasis in Human Resources. Students interested in marrying the topics of management and human resources will accomplish several learning objectives related to business and employment by the time they receive their bachelor’s degree.
Learning objectives include identifying how best to select and recruit new employees, understanding how to engage in employee growth and implement training, and create pay structures that are appropriate for the business and its employees. Students will also learn how to work effectively within performance appraisal systems that are legal and ethical, as well as learn how to assess performance and offer appropriate feedback to employees.
The degree is offered by the Lee Business School and the Department of Management, Entrepreneurship, and Technology. Students will take general courses in fine arts, science, and analytical thinking, as well as several courses in management. To complete the degree, students must take six required classes in management and two electives in business or management.
The degree does have some course prerequisites that students may need to complete before enrolling in classes that count toward graduation. Students must obtain a grade of C or better in all prerequisite classes as well as a minimum grade of C in all classes required by the degree. Students can take a class up to three times during their enrollment at the university.
Students who have already earned a bachelor’s degree can consider the Evening MBA program, which offers an emphasis in Human Resources. To enter the program, students should have at least two years of work experience, and the university recommends that prospective students attend an information session before applying. Classes are held Monday through Thursday and are usually two nights a week. Students can complete the program in two years if they attend full-time or three years if they attend part-time.

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas is a public university that covers 358 acres at its Paradise, Nevada location. The university’s motto is “All For Our Country,” and it was established in the fall of 1957. The large institution has more than 30,000 students enrolled, and around 1,000 teachers are on staff at the university. Regional accreditation for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas comes from the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. This accreditation means that all degrees, programs, and certificates are accredited at the university. The university also has several academic accreditations, as well as approval from the Council on International Educational Exchange for its international programs.
For example, several of the programs offered by the Lee Business School are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Current high school students who are interested in attending the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and meet certain qualifications will be offered admission and students who do not meet the qualifications may be offered delayed admission. Minimum standards include having a GPA of 3.0 or above in several recommended classes, an 1120 on the SAT, and a 22 on the ACT. International students who want to gain undergraduate admission must submit some additional documents.
Students who want to study at the graduate level will apply to the Graduate College at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. There are more than 160 graduate programs offered by the university, and many have unique application requirements. In most cases, students will apply to the Graduate College with the official application, submit a nonrefundable admission fee, and submit one transcript from each postsecondary school attended.
Tuition and Financial Aid
University of Nevada, Las Vegas tuition is based on a student’s level of study, as well as his or her residency status. Students who enroll in undergraduate programs and are residents of Nevada will pay $3,336 per semester for a yearly cost of $6,551. Students who are undergraduates but are not residents of Nevada will pay $10,572 for tuition per semester and $21,023 per year. Students will also pay for campus room and board, books and supplies, and additional expenses like transportation and miscellaneous costs.
For graduate students, the cost for tuition for graduate students who are residents of Nevada is $4,452 per semester and $8,869 per year.
